MotoGP Has No Immediate Plans to Expand U.S. Schedule Beyond Circuit of the Americas

MotoGP’s presence in the United States appears set to remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.

Despite continued growth in the American motorcycle market and increasing interest in the championship, series officials have indicated there are no immediate plans to add a second U.S. Grand Prix to the calendar. That leaves the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, as MotoGP’s lone American stop. While discussions about expanding into new markets continue, no additional U.S. race has been announced or formally scheduled.

The decision comes as MotoGP continues prioritizing global expansion in regions where demand is rapidly increasing, particularly across Asia and the Middle East. Those markets have become key growth areas for both manufacturers and commercial rights holder Dorna Sports.

For American fans, the news is a bit disappointing.

The United States has produced world champions, iconic riders and one of the sport’s most recognizable venues in Circuit of the Americas. Cities such as Indianapolis, Laguna Seca and even new street-race concepts have occasionally surfaced in fan discussions as potential destinations should MotoGP ever return to multiple U.S. events.

For now, though, those ideas remain just that—ideas.

Austin continues to deliver strong crowds and one of the most unique atmospheres on the calendar, giving MotoGP little reason to move away from its current strategy.

That doesn’t mean another American race will never happen.

MotoGP officials have repeatedly expressed interest in growing the championship’s footprint worldwide, and the U.S. remains an important commercial market. But with the calendar already approaching its practical limit, adding a second American round would likely require another event to disappear.

As things stand, MotoGP’s focus remains on strengthening its existing schedule rather than expanding into another U.S. venue.

For American fans hoping to see the premier class race twice on home soil, the wait will continue.
